Job Summary:
The Tool Maker Assistant supports Tool Makers in the design, fabrication, and maintenance of tools, dies, and fixtures used in manufacturing processes. This position offers hands-on experience and training in tool making, allowing individuals to develop their skills in a dynamic manufacturing environment. Must have CNC Machining experience, familiarity with CAD/CAM systems, and computer proficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
· Assist Tool Makers in the setup and operation of machine tools, including lathes, mills, grinders, and CNC equipment.
· Help in the fabrication, assembly, and modification of tools, dies, and fixtures based on specifications.
· Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
· Participate in the inspection and testing of tools and dies to ensure they meet quality and design standards.
· Document work processes, maintain records of tooling, and assist in inventory management.
· Support troubleshooting efforts by identifying and reporting issues related to tooling and machinery.
· Follow blueprints, sketches, and CAD designs to assist in the creation of tooling components.
· Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent; coursework or training in machining, manufacturing technology, or a related field is preferred.
· Basic mechanical skills and a willingness to learn about tool making processes.
· Familiarity with hand tools, as well as measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers, is essential
· Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and follow instructions from experienced Tool Makers.
